Abstract: In all types of organizations, all the members, irrespective of their job positions in the hierarchy need to put into operation formal communication. Information related to work matters is communicated among individuals within organisations. Within all types of organisations, some job duties are carried out individually. In contrast, others are carried out through working in collaboration and integration with others. In cases of individual job duties, ideas and viewpoints are exchanged regarding various factors with other individuals. Hence, formal communication is regarded as worthwhile and efficacious. Individuals need to emphasize honing their technical skills. These are the skills that facilitate the use of various types of technologies. Individuals in all job positions are required to implement the techniques that enable them to perform well in their job duties, achieve desired goals and objectives, and contribute to the overall improvement of the organisation. Furthermore, progression is facilitated among members and within the overall structure of the organisation when mutual understanding is developed among all members. Therefore, formal communication is vital in development of mutual understanding among members of organizations. The main concepts considered in this research paper are understanding the meaning and significance of formal communication, measures to be implemented in reinforcing formal communication, and how formal communication leads to the progression of human resources and organisations.
